History
Cannon Point is located on over 28 acres of prime Lake George lake front real estate. The area was known formerly as 'Millionaire's Row' due to the elaborate mansions that once occupied this part of the Lake.
The Manor House, seen at left, was built in 1909 and is one of the original mansions on Millionaire's Row. It is now used as a recreation center for Cannon Point guests.
A stroll through the Manor House, or a game of pool in the billiards room, gives a sense of what it was like to be one of the nation's elite at the turn of the century.
About the Facilities
The complex is designed to provide countless options to its guests in the form of recreation, while providing enormous solitude. Most guests comment that they feel like they are the only ones there.
Once you enter Cannon Point and proceed up it's long and winding entrance, you will pass the outdoor athletic facilities and playground on your right.
As you proceed further to the Manor House, you will notice it sits perched on top of a cliff, overlooking the great Lake George. Enjoy a drink on the vintage Manor House porch or an informal dinner on one of the cliffside picnic tables.
To the right of the Manor House, is the heated swimming pool, surrounded by a large deck for tanning, trees on 3 sides and the Lake on the other.
Walking west from the Manor House, you arrive at the boat docks hidden in a secluded cove. These docks are available to renters on pre-arranged request for a boat up to 24 feet.
As you proceed through Cannon Point's winding paths, you pass a narrow 2.75 acre point extending far out into the lake. It is rumored that Indians used this as a lookout point during colonial times. Stroll down these natural wooded paths to the rocky point and stand in complete solitude surrounded almost 360 degrees by water.
Moving on, you come across the kayak bay to your right where you can launch and land your kayak for a traditional Lake George adventure.
A little further you pass the bonfire pit which looks out to Orcutt Bay and directly at Dome Island, Lake George's deepest point. Sunsets in front of a bonfire capture the true magic and layered mountain views only Lake George offers.
Just past the bonfire pit, you arrive at the Sandy Beach - a MUST during a hot day. Sit on a lounge chair with your feet in the sand as the kids play and swim in Orcutt Bay. The shallow sandy bay is a place where kids can be kids, and you can let them.
